Breckenridge Engagement Session
As we waited inside the Starbucks in Breckenridge I looked outside the window and immediately ...
One of our favorite locations in California is Monterey Bay and nearby Carmel by the Sea. To do photography there is a dream. We’ve known Dominic since he was a teenager so when we heard he was engaged we were excited to be asked to photograph his wedding. When his fiance told us that Monterey had sentimental value to her and that she wanted her engagement photos there we jumped on the idea.
We had a blast that day. We spent the entire day touring and shooting in random spots through out the area. The session started off on Cannery Row where strolled along the sea side walkway, later we were bound for Carmel via the 17 mile drive. We found the perfect little beach on th 17 mile drive where we got a few shots and planned to come back at sunset. When we arrived in Carmel we had a wardrobe change, walked along ocean avenue, stopped for some ice cream, browsed the various shops and took pictures of course.
As we headed back to the beach we found earlier we realized we had about 3 hours to kill before sunset. We were kind of worried because we had a thick overcast overhead. However there was a break in the clouds near the horizon when you looked across the ocean. We decided to grab some food and eat on the beach while we waited. It was worth the wait. The photos turned out perfect.

Those are gorgeous pictures! WOW! Really looks amazing. I was in Monterey a few days ago (with a friend) and am planning on getting engaged soon. I came out all the way from Sacramento to see where I might be able to pop the question. I was amazed by how beautiful Monterey really is. I don’t know why I never visited before, but its truly an amazing place. I am hoping to propose at a beach, some place nice, with a view (sunset), and a little privacy. I was wondering where exactly was this particular beach/location along 17 mile drive? 17mile drive is sort of a long road with many small beaches. Is there a cross road near by? I haven’t had anywhere near enough time to explore the beaches. Is this, by any chance, near the crossing of 17 mile & Bird Rock Rd? I would really appreciate it if you can give me some idea of where this is? Or, if it would even be a good place for a proposal. Thank You!
I can’t remember the exact stop number. If entering the 17 mile drive from the Pacific Grove entrance and stick right and drive along the ocean you’ll find it before you hit the Bird Rock stop. I only remember the Bird Rock stop because we passed up the beach we wanted and had to turn around at Bird Rock to get back to it. lol… I know those are not the best directions, but hope that helps somewhat. It’s a nice beach and every-time we’ve gone there it’s been rather private.
By the way, congrats on your upcoming proposal! It’s an exciting time in one’s life.
Thank You very much, that really narrows it down, so I guess your directions are quite good, lol. I am sure I can find it now, just by looking at the satellite map. Beaches tend to stand out on the satellite map. And thank you for the congrats, yes it is quite an exciting time for me, and I am sure it will be for her.
Great stuff.
